Hello All,
So I have decided to make a new blog.
Reasons:
1. devote to residency experiences
2. it's linked to my new email that I use (never use this one anymore)
3. i couldn't figure out how to get this blog to sign in using my new email.
so without further ado:
New Blog
Come visit and read about my boring life! haha

I've Been A Bad Blogger
Hello World! I have been told by my friend that I needed to blog. So here it is. So I guess I should update everyone.
I spent February on my internal medicine sub-i rotation. I'll just say that it's over and that's that. I was with my good friend Dr. Anesthesiologist and back with my favorite Infectious Disease attending from last year. My residents were cool and the M3's weren't too shabby overall. I watched my first death declaration, saw agonal breathing, and looked into the eyes of a man dying of lung cancer and gasping for air. It was intense. And it's over.
I've spend this month on pediatric hematology/oncology clinics. It's been horrible. I think it's because 1. it's clinic 2. I don't get to spend as much time in the lab as I thought I could get away with 3. I only love 1 attending and there is 1 that I CAN.NOT.STAND. Like, extreeeeeeme personality conflict. On the up side I still get to see awesome pathology, the kids are CUTE, and I've gotten to do bone marrow biopsies and aspirations. So there is some redemption. Plus I get to do a presentation on Juvenile Xanthogranuloma and nerd out on it. Plus, it's my LAST ROTATION OF MED SCHOOL! woo!
So, with that I'll say a few words on the whole match day process. I got my email that monday saying that I matched. So the boy and I proceeded to eagerly await thursday. So after about the 20 or so people that got called before me I was so nervous I was going to puke. I think the boy was about to light a cigarette in the middle of the auditorium to try and calm his nerves as well. I don't remember much between hearing my name, REGISTERING that it was indeed my name that was called, then going and sitting back down in my seat. I remember getting my envelope, reading my institution, RE-reading it to make sure it was really on the paper and my mind wasn't just making it up, then walking to the microphone to read it out. I couldn't say it fast enough, almost fearing that if I didn't say it quickly it wouldn't be true. I re-read the envelope's contents AGAIN when I sat down just to make sure.
It is official. I'm going to be a pathologist. I got my #1 choice in programs. I'll be moving 700 miles away.
I am so.excited. I leave sunday to go up with my dad and look at houses. I'm hoping to physically move up there the first 2 weeks of May. I am really excited for all my friends who matched. It's going to be sad being so far away, but there will always be blog land! (and phone calls and texts haha).
Speaking of blogs, this one is tied to my old email address. I'm going to make a new one for residency that's linked to my new email address. Details on that to follow when I actually get around to making it.
I'm sure i'll have fun pictures when I return from my trip.
House hunting is FUN.

First post on new blog
Greetings all,
I've decided to move away from myspace and blog here instead. I thought it was time to get a real blog instead of using a generic form from an online networking site.
So I'm one week into my second block of second year. First block went well, passed all my tests so I'm really happy about that. We're starting real microbiology so I'm happy that we've moved away from immunology. Pharmacology is going to suck because the CNS drugs are complicated and the 140 page "review" the teacher sent out for self study is very dense. Luckily I can just chug through it for the next 5 weeks andI know I'll get through it by the test. I've really enjoyed the much more laid back scheduling of this year. Not every minute is planned for us, and we're not as micro-managed into mandatory lab sessions or 8-5 class blocks. Plus, the information doesn't seem as bad. I don't know if it's because the material itself is more visibly relevant to being a doctor, there is less material, or if I'm just used to drinking out of the fire hose so it doesn't seem as bad. Maybe it's a combination of all three. Who knows.
Went out last night to celebrate my friend J's birthday. It was a lot of fun. We went to the local irish-inspired pub and just sat around and chatted all night. It started raining, so we all stayed until closing. We sat outside for half of the night, where we all proceeded to be eaten alive by mosquitoes. There was also a group of some Teacher Corp teachers that all taught at one of the local high schools. They all looked about 12 years old and 70 lbs...so it was weird when they started hitting on several female members of our group. So that occupied the two teachers in our group while us nerds were left to talking about cadavers and other nerdy things most people don't understand. Or want to hear.
My ex roomate came, and unfortunately L and E and C all abandoned me at one point so I was left to her relentless babbling for a part of the night. I swear if there had been a pillow nearby I would have held it over her head while no one was looking until the thrashing stopped. Not really, but by that point in the night I was too tired to get up and just walk off in the middle of one of her pointless stories about herself. I was DD for several of my friends, so I ended up walking to the car in the rain in order to be nice and pick up my friends by the bar. Unfortunately, sometimes drunk people need to be put on leashes, and by the time I got to the car the people I was driving had all followed me in the rain to my car. Silly people. But I had fun. It was nice to get out. My friend W from college will be in town, so I think I'll be seeing him next weekend as well. I'm pretty excited. We always got along well, even if he had dated my ex roomate for a while. I can look past that small lapse in judgement and chill and catch up with him for a bit.
Needless to say, We got in really late last night and I've been napping off and on all day. I heard from my friend M which is always nice. I really enjoy talking to him. I have such fond memories of him when I was younger. I really do miss him. I wish he lived here, but I'm sure he's much happier where he is now. I haven't gotten a whole lot done today, not as much as I should have. I did read the lab manual assignment, and I'll be finishing up a few micro lectures by the time I go to bed. I'll just have to buckle down tomorrow and really hit it.
Keep it real.
